"Excess Water Flow Shutoff System"

WaterBlock Point of Use Excess Flow Shutoff System

WaterBlock is an excess flow, safety shut-off valve which controls the maximum continuous flow of water through it. Its function is to measure the number of gallons of water that passes through it and shut off if this quantity exceeds the preset value until you reset it. If the water flow volume during a continuous run does not exceed the set value before it stops normally, WaterBlock automatically resets to zero and starts a new measurement cycle when the flow begins again.

For example: WaterBlock is installed into the water line feeding an auto-fill coffee maker or ice machine and it is set for 1 gallon because this appliance normally uses less than a gallon per cycle. If the appliance operates normally, it fills the reservoir and shuts off and WaterBlock resets to zero till the next operating cycle. However, if the appliance malfunctions or the water line ruptures, and the water continues running, WaterBlock will shut off when the usage reaches 1 gallon and will stay off till someone resets the valve. This prevents the damage that could have happened if the water had been allowed to keep running.

WaterBlock WB-13R Features and Benefits

WaterBlock WB-13R is ideal for Low-Volume point of use applications such as washing machines, dish washers, drinking fountains, ice makers, water filters, or any water line application that would not exceed 13 gallons per cycle during normal operation. WaterBlock WB-13R is NOT suitable for whole house applications because its maximum flow setting is 13 Gallons per cycle.

  • Works like a "fuse" in the plumbing system.
  • Reduces the risk of flooding if a burst occurs.
  • Shuts off the water should a persistent flow or leak be detected.
  • Totally mechanical, no electrical power or batteries required.

YdroStop is able to:

  1. Provide a means of protecting the home, office, or business against excess flooding due to pipe failure or leaks in the plumbing system.
  2. Provide SAFETY AND SECURITY. A fractured water main has serious consequences. During a weekend as much as 20,000 gallons of water can flow from a fractured 1/2” pipe. This would be about the same quantity that a family with two children uses in three months. Damage caused by a fracture or an overflowing sink can be enormous, not only in the home but also in the business, factory or workshop. Such accidents can be costly in property damage, inconvenience and money.
  3. Prevent such problems. This unique device is activated by a difference in pressure (which may be caused by a pipe fracture). The water supply is cut off almost at once until the appropriate repairs can be carried out.

YdroStop may be the solution for a whole house system or a branch of the home. There are two settings that operate together to protect the home:

  1. You can set a timer that allows water to run continuously, up to a preset period of time. If a continuous flow runs longer than the preset, the unit shuts off. If usage stops before the timer is exceeded, the YdroStop valve will reset itself to zero for the next time water is turned on.
  2. A sudden burst of water flowing through the valve will trigger a shutoff. This would be in a case where a pipe line ruptured and caused a sudden, large loss of water.

In both types of shutoff occurrences, the situation is corrected and then the YdroStop valve is reset.
