When
an ordinary backup sump pump is installed by teeing into the discharge pipe
just above the main sump pump, it
is often so close to the exit of the main pump that it leaves very little
room for the check valve to fit below it. This often means that the
check valve must be positioned only inches away from all the pressure and
turbulence from the main pump's impeller. As a result, the check valve
itself often becomes broken inside or develops a hole in it from the
daily beating it takes. When the
day arrives that the backup pump has to go on, instead of removing
water, it recycles it back down through the damaged check valve and the
basement floods! This configuration also makes it difficult to install
most backup pumps! All three models of HYDROPUMP
connect to the main pump discharge pipe 3 - 4 feet above that
turbulent point. This leaves plenty of room to install the main check
valve at a point where the water is running more smoothly through the pipe
and causing no damage to the check valve. It also means the pump is much
easier to install, usually without removing the main pump to do it. All
your connections are made above the floor, not down inside the sump. Installation of all these models is a breeze and we include everything you
should need except the battery. We recommend a standard size, 12 Volt Marine Deep Cycle Battery, Sealed Lead-Acid Battery, AGM Battery,
or Gel Battery available locally throughout the country. We also
sell AGM and Gel Batteries on our purchasing
page. We
include a high-impact plastic battery case #27 that protects the battery and the
terminals. The case is designed to give the battery plenty of
ventilation. |
| HYDROPUMP DH900
and DH1800
each comes
complete with its own mounting bracket that makes it possible to set the pump
easily at the desired
height in the sump at the high water level. The pump typically
stays above
the water line and usually only gets wet when the water rises above
normal. Its job is to keep the floor dry until the problem is
resolved. The included stainless steel bracket hangs the pump against
the wall of the sump, out of the way and at the desired height. If your sump is
of standard size, say 15" - 20" across at floor level and 18 -
30" deep, one of the DH models will most likely fit just
fine. |

HYDROPUMP RH1400
is specifically designed for use in smaller, more confined sumps where
placing the pump down in the sump is just about impossible. The RH1400
sits on the floor and uses a suction pipe that goes nearly all the way to the
bottom of the sump pit. This assures an effective removal of water from
the pit and the drain tiles to the extent of the float that controls it.
The pump is always full of water because it must be kept primed
at all times by the water flow from the main sump pump running more
often than the backup sump pump.
